These terms apply to your use of Unwatch at unwatch.video, operated by Elowin Labs LLC ("we"). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use the site.

The service

Unwatch produces summaries of YouTube videos from their caption tracks using a language model that runs in your browser (or, where enabled and only when your browser cannot run one, a hosted model). It is free, has no accounts, and comes with no service commitment: we may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.

Automated results

Summaries are generated automatically by small language models from captions that are often auto-generated themselves. They can be incomplete, wrong or misleading, and they do not replace watching the video. Check anything that matters against the source using the chapter timestamps. We make no promise about the accuracy, completeness or fitness of any summary.

Acceptable use

Use the site only for lawful purposes and in ways that do not interfere with it or with the services it relies on. Do not attempt to circumvent the rate limits, scrape the caption endpoint, or use the site to build a competing automated service. You are responsible for how you use the summaries, including respecting the rights of the people who made the videos.

Content and rights

Captions and video metadata belong to their respective creators and to YouTube; Unwatch fetches and displays them so that a summary can be made for you. The summary is generated on your device for your own use. Unwatch's own code, design and text are ours.

Third-party services

The site relies on YouTube, on browser vendors' built-in models, on model weights hosted by Hugging Face, on a CDN, and, when the cloud fallback is used, on a hosted model provider. Their availability and terms are outside our control.

THE SITE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SITE. THE SERVICE IS FREE; OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO ZERO DOLLARS (USD 0).

Changes

We may update these terms; the date above changes when we do. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
